Abstract: In this paper, we studied and identified the diversity of Iris species in the Nakhchivan
Autonomous Republic. The genus Iris, which belongs to the family Iridaceae, has 2,244 species in the
world, 30 in the Caucasus, 40 in Azerbaijan, and 25 in the territory of Nakhchivan. The largest genus
in this family is Iris, with 250 species, of which 22 are found in Azerbaijan and 14 in Nakhchivan.
Most of these species are used as decorative plants, but some are rare and have been included
in the Red Book. Two forms of the Iris lycotis species have been identified: 1. Iris lycotis Woronow
magnifica Grossh., and 2. Iris lycotis form. heterochroa Grossh.
