ABSTRACT. In this study, we investigated the flora of Sarimsak Mountain, located in the Andırın
district of Kahramanmarash province in Turkey. The research area falls within square C6 of the P.H.
Davis grid system. The mountain lies along the route of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline and
has an elevation ranging from 900 to 1,580 meters.
The climate is Mediterranean, but altitude influences precipitation patterns and types. Red-brown
forest soils are the main soil type.
Our research material consists of plant samples collected between 2010 and 2014 from the study
area. Based on our results, we identified taxa from 58 plant families and 238 genera. Of these, 48
species (11.92%) are endemic to the area. The distribution of plant taxa across phytogeographic
regions shows that 77% (18.73%) are Mediterranean elements, 70% (17.03%) are Iran-Turan, 15%
(3.65%) are Europea-Siberian, 60% are widespread, and 18% (4.59%) are multi-regional.
The major family of plants by genus is Asteraceae Giseke, which has 31 different genera. The most
common genera are Geranium, Cetearuea, and Allium, each with 7 different species. The results of
this study are consistent with previous studies conducted in nearby areas.
