CHARACTERISTICS OF DESERT VEGETATION OF THE COASTAL PART OF SALYAN REGION (SOUTH-EASTERN PART OF AZERBAIJAN, SHIRVAN LOWLAND)

Abstract
The article describes the vegetation of the coastal area of the Salyan region. Background plant communities are formed by the edificators Salsola dendrodes Pall., S. nodulosa (Moq.) İljin, S. ericoides M. Bieb., S. crassa M. Bieb., Halocnemum strobilacem (Pall.) M. Bieb., Artemisia fragrans Willd., Petrosimonia brachiata Pall. Bunge. The phytocenotic features of dominants and edificators of saltwort desert phytocenoses, as well as the species composition of ephemerals, are discussed. The results of the gradient distribution of communities from the seashore to the mainland are presented. Information on invasive and endemic species in the study area is provided. The article also examines the main plant types in the region and their distribution in relation to drought, moisture, and salinity levels. The impact of anthropogenic factors on these plant types is also discussed.
