Abstract. The article provides information on the current status of woody species of the Rosaceae
Juss. family in the mountain-xerophytic and steppe vegetation of the Julfa region. Based on existing
literature and conducted research, the taxonomic composition, life forms, ecological groups,
geographical range types, and classes of the woody species of the Rosaceae family in the mountainxerophytic
and steppe vegetation of the Julfa region have been studied. According to our research,
when characterizing the woody species of the Rosaceae family in the mountain-xerophytic and
steppe zones of the Julfa region by genera, it was found that Rosa comprises 22 species (43.1%),
Prunus 8 species (15.7%), Crataegus 5 species (9.8%), Pyrus 5 species (9.8%), Sorbus 4 species
(7.8%), Cotoneaster 2 species (3.9%), Spiraea 2 species (3.9%), and Malus, Rubus, and Pyracantha
are represented by 1 species (1.96%) each.
Shrubs, particularly the woody species of the Rosaceae family, play an important role in the structure
of the flora of the Julfa region. They are part of shrub steppe areas, form independent groups,
and create unique formations. As the conducted research shows, species of the Rosa L. genus are
predominant in the regional flora. These species form part of the shrub steppes, create independent
groups, and form unique formations.
